Carla Davis, Marketing and Communications Director for the Akron-Summit County Public Library, describes herself using Three C’s.

“I Communicate, I Counsel, and I Canto (sing).”

Carla is the musical director for Rise, Sally, Rise, Inc., a workshop ministry founded by Dr. Angela Neal-Barnett that specializes in anxiety disorders in African-American women.  She holds a Master’s degree in Pastoral Clinical Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary and a BA degree from The University of Akron.  Carla is a board trustee at Haven of Rest mission, the Greater Akron Music Association (Akron Symphony Orchestra), Project GRAD Akron, Akron Press Club and was recently appointed to the Summit County Regional Arts and Cultural District board of trustees. Her career background includes public relations and journalism. In addition to professional singing, she also works at a private psychological practice. She resides with her family in Akron, Ohio.

In describing the ministry that God has placed in Carla, it has been said… “She speaks and sings right to the heart.”

“I want my music to be refreshing. I want emotional healing to take place in the lives of those who I minister to.”

Having traveled nationally and abroad, “Instilling a word of hope through song” summarizes Carla Davis’ mission in ministry.  Carla has shared her faith through song in Paris, France; Birmingham, England;  and Cape Town and Durban, South Africa. Carla believes God has called her to encourage and exhort persons – particularly women – to persevere in their journey of faith in Jesus Christ.
